It’s been a while since the last blog update. I have been trying to play as much golf as possible before our club went to the national team championship (2.division).
I also got some new irons and wedges a couple of weeks ago, which I have had to adapt to (an updated “what’s in the bag” is coming soon).

Norwegian Team Championship

My home club Sunnfjord GK is playing in the 2. division here in Norway. We had one year in the 1. division, but we could not manage to stay up. This year we played at Romerike GK, an 18 hole course approximately 40 minutes from Oslo. The course is very open and you can miss both left and right on many holes, but there are a few narrow holes with water in play. It was very windy over the weekend, so not my favorite playing conditions. We played foursomes the first round, we shot 77. A fairly good round, but we made to many bogeys because of the poor short game. The second round was fourball. Me and my partner shot 69, but again we struggled on and around the greens.
We played singles in the last round, with the best three of four score counting. I shot a round of 84, not playing well at all. I made a double bogey on one of the difficult holes and made two 8’s as well. We finished 6th of 16 teams this year, hopefully, we can play better next year.

What do I have to work on?

There were a lot of good players at the tournament, the lowest score in singles was 64. I got to see what I need to work on for the rest of the season. My irons have always been my strongest part and still is, but my ball striking is not good at the moment. I have to work on my approach game and around the green. I struggle to hit my wedges close enough to make birdies. I also need to practice more with my driver. I don’t get to use my driver on my home course, because it is short and narrow. I might consider hitting it on one hole, just to get used to hitting it more often. I can still practice with the driver on the range. This was a short update on what’s been going on lately. I have a few more courses played coming and I will continue with my golf simulator as well.
